If my Grandparents were alive today they would be totally amazed that in today's wonderful world of technology we still suffer with dirty tap water!
Yes that's right, there have been traces of toxic chemicals found in the USA alone. In fact a recent report produced by the Ralph Nader Research Institute revealed that US drinking water contained over 2000 cancer causing toxic chemicals.
Not only are there harmful chemical toxins, but there have been reports of pharmaceutical prescription drugs such as aspirin, contraceptive pills, antacid, heart attack pills etc found in our water supplies.
Let me tell you how easily this happens. You are not feeling well, you go to the Doctors, he/she prescribes you some medication. Next you take your medication, and whilst most of these drugs are absorbed by the body there is a small amount that we will lose as we urinate.
The water we drink is all re-cycled and water plants try to remove all of the differing contaminants, but some of them get through to our drinking water supplies and comes through as regular drinking water.
Chlorine is often added to kill off any bacteria and clean it which is why your water tastes of chlorine. In some parts of the Country you can taste it more than in other parts, this is solely down to the amount of chlorine being added to the different supplies.
However the more chlorine that is added actually makes the problem worse, because chlorine can cause all sorts of skill problems if you are in contact with it for sustained periods of time.
So now that you know that tap water contains all sorts of harmful bacteria's, chemicals and toxins, it's important to start to think about what you can do to protect yourself.
Do not fear, all is not lost. A drinking water filter is the perfect choice and indeed as I stated in the title of this article a modern day necessity.
I personally think no home should be without one, and the selection of products on offer is increasing as more and more people are turning to them for pure, tastier and more importantly healthier water.
Carbon Filters, Sediment Filters, Chlorine Filters are only just a few of the different kinds of water filters on offer today, however a good one would be a water filter that employs multi-stage filtration. This is an additional safeguard feature that most filters do not provide. For example many filters still leave traces of chlorine, lead and chemicals in your water.
So now you know what to do about it, go on make the right choice, after all what price can you put on your health?
